Ever since I was little, I remember my mom setting me up on the counter, next to our faithful Kitchen Aid, and whipping up delicious treats together! Years later, when it came to the daunting question – “what do you want to do with your life?” – the idea of baking and opening up a shop was one I never could shake. After traveling to London, Paris, and New York City to learn from the best, I decided my hometown of Cleveland needed a bakery that could compare! A “sweets boutique” that had treats just as beautiful as those from Paris, but tasted like my mom and I used to make growing up. In the summer of 2014, Kelsey Elizabeth Cakes was born, and I signed my first commercial lease at 24 years old, never looking back!
Soon after the lease was signed, my mom and I were up to our necks in orders, and had lines wrapping the building for our holiday treats, and everyday sweets! What started as our little hole in the wall bakery, has become four bustling shops known for our French macarons, Party Cakes, and big, beautiful cases that have completely surpassed even my wildest dreams! Our team of two has become a team of seventy and is growing every day! I am forever grateful for our customers and team members who have been with us since the beginning and have helped the shop become what it is today. Whether you found us through Instagram, saw a winding line outside our shops, heard about us from a friend, or just stopped by one day to check it out, I am so happy you are here, and I know this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship!
I highly recommend trying our best sellers: Birthday Cake and Fruity Pebbles Macarons, White Almond Cupcakes, Oatmeal Cream Pies, Salted Chocolate Chip Cookies, Cinnamon Rolls (available Saturdays only!) and Cake Batter Blondies! A few of my personal favorites are the Banoffee, S’mores, and Cookie Dough cupcakes, and the Neapolitan, Cookie Butter, and Crème Brûlée Macarons!
I recommend our Party Cake Collection! Each cake has a unique design and fun flavor, that takes all the guesswork out of designing the cake. My personal favorites are the S’mores, Reese’s, Cookie Monster, and Strawberries & Champagne, and Banana Split… (ok fine I just love them all!) If you’re picking a flavor for a Buttercream or custom cake, I recommend White Almond or Chocolate Fudge! They are definitely crowd pleasers!
I recommend getting a smaller cake such as a 6” or 8” with matching cupcakes or mini cupcakes! It makes a beautiful display, and as a bonus, you don’t need to cut the cake right away; guests can take cupcakes as they like, and you don’t have to dismantle the display cake!
